BILLINGS — It is Turkey Tuesday in downtown Billings today. This is where Q2 is accepting frozen turkeys and nonperishable food donations to the Billings Food Bank.
We're also accepting unwrapped toys for the Toys-for-Tots program collected by the United States Marine Corps.
The collections are going very well in Billings. I think maybe the temperature might have something to do with it.
In the early afternoon, it was 49 degrees in Billings with mostly cloudy skies and a southeast wind at 8 mph.
This gives us a windchill factor that feels like 45 degrees. Around the rest of the state, our current temps are mostly into the 30s along the Hi-Line, 40s, 50s and even 64 degrees in Livingston, east of the Divide.
The Doppler radar and satellite imagery shows a few widely scattered rain showers coming out of the Idaho chimney and heading into northwestern Montana. East of the Divide, we're looking at partly cloudy skies.
The high-resolution forecast model shows we will continue to see a few widely scattered rain showers move into the northwestern corner of the state Tuesday evening.
We will continue to see your next weather system moving to the west. On Wednesday morning, the rain and snow will stick around up there in the northwest throughout most of the day.
By Thursday, we will continue to see rain and snow showers in the western mountains, but the downsloping winds off the Beartooths will inhibit rain and snowfall development for Billings, which will remain dry.
It will be 53 degrees at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, then we will cool down to the mid-40s in the morning and back up to 57 degrees by 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
We will top out at 60 degrees on Wednesday, roll it back to 51 on Thursday and eventually to the 40s on Friday through the weekend and into the early part of next week.
