Q2 Weather: Warm enough to threaten some record highs

Warm to start, cooler to finish the weekend.

Friday and Saturday will be very warm for early March. Highs will be mainly in the 60s both days, but will range from the mid-50s to lower 70s. Saturday morning, reading will be in the upper 30s to 40s.

The record high for Billings for Friday, March 6 is 71 degrees set in 2016, and 65 degrees is the March 7 record, set in 1993. Saturday’s record may fall.

A cold front late Saturday will bring some light mountain snow and some rain and snow showers to the lower elevations. Sunday will be cooler, with highs mainly in the 40s.

Billings forecast:

Friday… A mix of clouds and sun with a high near 67. Southwest wind 10 to 20 mph with occasional gusts.

Friday night… Partly cloudy with the low around 44.

Saturday… Increasing clouds with a high of about 66. Winds increase in the afternoon 15 to 25 mph.
