BILLINGS — A quick moving cold front has the biggest impacts during the morning.
Wind with rain and snow showers will accompany a passing cold front Wednesday morning. But the showers will be limited as the wind tends to dry the air out.
Expect a breezy afternoon with stronger winds in the mountain foothills. Gusts from Livingston to Billings could reach 40 mph. Winds subside for all but the Livingston/Nye area by Wednesday night.
Afternoon temperatures will reach the mid-30s to mid-40s for most of the area both Wednesday and Thursday. Mountain snow and a few rain or snow showers in the higher elevation communities are possible Thursday.
Mild temperatures remain on track for the weekend with highs in the 40s to low 50s, and lows in the 20s to mid-30s. The wind-prone areas remain breezy.
Billings forecast:
Wednesday… Isolated morning showers, otherwise decreasing clouds and a high of about 44. Westerly wind increases to 15 to 25 mph.
Wednesday night… Partly cloudy with a low around 26.
Thursday… Mix of clouds and sun. About 44 for the high.
