Q2 Weather: Winter Storm Watches are posted

BILLINGS — Watching for a winter storm.

Across the region, Thursday will be mostly sunny and a bit warmer than Wednesday with light winds.

Afternoon highs today will top out in the upper 40s in the north and the mid to upper 50s in south central and southeast Montana and northern Wyoming.

Friday afternoon highs will take another 10 degree jump at most locations ahead of an advancing cold front arriving late Friday evening.

Winter Storm Watches have been posted for much of Montana and northeast Wyoming - from north to south - for Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.

Snow accumulations in the watch areas will range from 4 to 10 inches in the lower elevations, and up to 18 inches in the mountains.

Rain showers will develop in and around Billings on Friday night, changing to accumulating snow by Saturday morning.

Local forecasts will continue to update as the storm approaches south central and southeast Montana and northern Wyoming.
